Intriguing pictures, John!
What fun! How sad to go without Dr. Ekkens. What memories...
Fire Pink, Catawba Rhododendron, Bishop's Cap, Wood and Rue Anemone that I could never quite tell apart... multitudes of phlox, and the graveyard in the middle of no where with fake flowers and intriguing tombstones...
My favorite picture (besides morning mood) is the one of you two trekking across the field. Amazing. I am so glad you guys were able to get away for awhile and have a restful weekend.
Nice pictures John! Was this just a personal venture, or did you go with the bio. department?
I agree with Kelsey, it was such a blast going to Smoky Mountains last year! I'd like to take my parents there next spring; I've never seen any flowers like that! I think that was my favorite part of general biology!
martina,
it was a personal venture. That trip with GB remains as one of my most unique and enjoyable camping memories.
