I like graveyards: they remind me that we are "dead to trespasses and sins" through Christ. There's a sort of peace around it.

Hymn # 73 is "Holy, Holy, Holy"

(grim smirk).

Joel and I went on a lovely walk through a graveyard earlier this semester - we went there to meet someone - and alive someone who was visiting a grave... It was very windy.

The number 73 is quite interesting...

73 is the smallest integer with twelve letters in its spelled out name. (I just looked it up)

and also found out that amateur radio operators often use the number 73 as a way of saying "best regards".

It is the atomic number of tantalum, (a blue-gray transition metal).

My goodness! Was this a subtle hint to do more blogging or just the result of random wandering?
I'm not sure why he doesn't have a last name... I hope he had a pleasant life. Where did he live? I wonder what he was like. Did he have a family?
He died the same year as Geronimo. 1909 was also when Victor Borge was born. I wonder if somebody will be pondering about my tombstone someday

Well, thanks for thinking of me John, I think :)

Lest my fellow bloggers should misconstrue this post for a morbid hint or a flaring distemper...

I took the picture in a peaceful graveyard in the Smoky Mountain NP for a simple reason...

It was curious that Joel was buried there and also attending college! Was my friend a fictitious figment of my imagination, or was I hallucinating from inhaling to deeply from one of the many wildflowers?

I have now seen joel in the flesh, and am again convinced of his vivacious nature, but this blog was a monument to my temporary confusion.

Moral of the story: watch out for wildflowers.

Especially plastic wildflowers.

especially plastic wildflowers that hide in the bushes and look like they are the find of a lifetime!

By the way, I wonder if "Joel" ever participated in the Great Awakening of 1844? Eight years old is a good time to begin to understand that Jesus is coming again!

how in the world did all of you get on the topic of the number 73. did kelsey just pull it out of nowhere?

Christy, perhaps you ought to take a look at the dates on the tombstone.
