priorities

I prioritize. I live simply. Because I have to.

My life here has only three gears, and no reverse.

1st gear: I study: frenetically.

2nd gear: Recreation: I climb: poorly :-)

3rd gear: Project/Involvment: I garden. happily.

Of course, what good would all my gears be without the spark, the powerdrive?

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4)

"A man is rich according to the amount of things he can afford to let alone". Sounds like a simply rich life. Focus is everything. You are ever in our prayers. Dad

I find it amusing that in the background of the first picture there is a cafe take-out container. :)

Question: What forces you to live simply? Isn't that a choice?

Dad: Your prayers are what keep me going!

Christy: haha, I guess you could argue that food is one of my priorities, but that wasn't the intent of the picture....

Perhaps I should say, "I have to make the choice to live simply". For me, excellence must be tied up in simplicity. If I were to widen my focus, I might "shoot at everything and hit nothing".

Like me, for instance :)

I think that the quote is, "If you aim at nothing you are sure to hit it."

Barry, you hit way more than you think. Don't underestimate the work that God is doing through you.

I'm proud of both brothers.

I've tried both approaches from time to time...

Following God is the only important choice. The methods He leads you to use don't matter much. Results are His business, after all.

Barry: my statement has no implications, except for me. I think you are doing amazing things here at southern.

Dad: I stand corrected :)

your blog brings back fond memories of Peru - I loved the simplicity in which we lived.

I think I could learn a lesson from you :) or from Barry... hmm. Anyhow, this post reminds me of a concept that Barry introduced to his fellow SA officers: Ruthless prioritization. This is actually something that I'm sure Barry must have overheard our nursing teachers talking about and then he coined the term. In any case, it's a good rule to live by, though I am not sure of my success with it this semester.
On another note, it just occurred to me that as of now, I have no link to your blog on my blog and would like to request permission for this to be remedied :)

Kristin:
Indeed. That is a slogan that I have posted up on my pinboard!

Feel free to "add" me.
